What is "Hustle"?
Does the word "hustle" conjure images of Travolta line dancing in his bell bottom pants and famous disco pose? Well that image couldn't be further from the hustle partner dance we do today! While it does have its roots in New York City's mid 70s, it is now a contemporary dance, always evolving and maintaining its popularity.
Most hustle is not a form of swing dancing. Rather, its roots are in the hot Latin dances, with incorporated elements from several dance styles. Click here to read more about Hustle.

INTRODUCTION TO HUSTLE.View the video.
FUN FACT: "In the 70s there were many kinds of hustle. The first hustle I learned then was called 'New York Hustle, Latin Style.' It had 6 counts and a kind of a cha-cha in it. Later I learned a 4-count style called "Rope Hustle" that was much easier and seemed to make more sense since it fit the music in four-four time." --- Phil Seyer |
